Child Birth Classes - Back to top
We
will work with you to make the coming months a truly meaningful and rewarding experience for you and your entire family. We offer childbirth educational classes to help you prepare for birth.
During the six-week class, registered nurses skilled in obstetrics will help you in the following ways:
- Answer your questions and concerns about pregnancy and parenting
- Learn how to prepare your body for this experience.
- Learn about the changes the baby will make in your life and body even before it is born
Newborn Care - Back to top
After your baby is born, our staff is available to answer questions and to offer newborn care education during your stay.
- Bathing baby
- Breastfeeding
- Cord and circumcision care
- Car seat and seatbelt safety.
The attentive and well-trained staff will answer any questions or address any concerns you may have while here and you may call us if you have any problems or questions after returning home.
A lactation consultant is available to discuss any questions the new mother might have about breast-feeding. The consultant’s service can even be utilized for support after the new mother and baby leave the hospital.
Sibling Classes - Back to top
Sibling classes are available by appointment for children ages 3 and older whose parents will be delivering at The Stork Station.
The class consists of touring the birthing unit, watching a video, "Hey What About Me," and answering questions. Children in the sibling class receive a snack, coloring book about baby, and a picture of themselves to put in their new sibling's crib after delivery.
