Nursing Care
Memorial
Hospital's Stork Station will offer optimal care for you and your newborn. "Rooming in" is highly encouraged to begin that special bond that will last a lifetime. However, a staffed nursery is available for certain exceptions such as your need for rest, the Candlelight Dinner, nurse and physician assessments, and other events that may arise.
During your stay at the Stork Station, the nurses will frequently check your and your baby's wellness. Vital signs, assessments, immunizations, lab tests, and education are among some of the many interventions you will encounter during your stay. We provide quality education that you will need to properly and safely care for yourself and your newborn upon your discharge. We offer videos, pamphlets, and inter-personal educational opportunities, as well as encouraging any questions you may have during your stay.
For security, you and your newborn will receive identification bracelets that will remain on during the length of your stay. Your baby's footprints are taken at birth and placed on a Memorial Hospital birth certificate, along with your fingerprints. Our staff wear nametags that have the Memorial Hospital shield logo and the employee's photo, so any time staff interacts with your new baby you can rest assured that safety and security are a priority for everyone at the Stork Station.
Since our main concern is for your health as well as that of your newborn, we ask that visitors leave by 10:00 p.m. However, fathers may stay as long as they want, and are allowed to assist in mother and baby care. We invite new baby's siblings to visit as well as friends and family; however, visitors are asked to remain considerate of your need for rest, as well as that of your baby.
